Well as the title suggests, I just got a new job. I applied at my local movie theaters, mainly so that over the summer I could work with a friend of mine. Unfortunately, they didn't reply until the end of the summer, so I didn't get to work with him, as he has left for school. I had applied to be assistant manager, but the manager said that the spot had disappeared because of few hours. I was then told that I would do my training then would be given the position of supervisor, which was fine by me.
Even though I won't be working with my friend now, I was still excited to start my first day of training. I was told that I would be an usher that day, which seemed easy enough. All that I have to do is do a quick sweep of the theater and get rid of the big stuff (bottles popcorn bags etc.) and keep an eye on the youngins'.
With the release of Superbad, I was told that a lot of young kids would be trying to sneak in. I found it hilarious when I saw kids open the door only to see an employee telling them "No, Mr.Bean is that way"
Later in the evening, I had the pleasure of kicking a few kids out. I had seen them go to a previous viewing of this movie, and they were trying to tell me that they hadn't seen that one, right after I stopped them from sneaking into War (R Rated) They showed me their tickets, and the time on one of them had been scratched out, and the other the time was "mysteriously" torn off. They briefly argued but soon made their way out.
Not to seem power hungry, but I had to wait my turn to go see an R-Rated movie, and they should as well. Not to mention it is a liabillity and could get the theater sued, but it was fun to suprise the kids as they knowingly tried to sneak in.
I have rarely said this in my working career, but I am looking forward to my next shift.
