The Pistol: A Gamers Last Resort

Well I saw a fairly good response to my AWP thread, so I figured I would make another about pistols. I will describe some of my favorite pistols, some that I think you should never use, and some tips on how to shoot them better. This should be helpful to both serious and friendly Counter-Strike player alike.

USP: The USP is the CT's first round pistol, and in my opinion, a CT's best friend. It comes with a 12 round 40cal clip that can be very deadly. The USP is a very accurate gun, with little recoil. My suggestion is that if you can, take your time. Aim directly for the head, and the USP can deal a lethal head shot, but if you decide to shoot wildly, it could take half your clip to take the opponent down. It also comes with a silencer, which SIGNIFICANTLY decreases its power. I don't recommend ever using it.

Glock: The glock can be a players worst gun, or best gun. It comes with a 20 round 9mm clip, with the option to go single or burst fire. The key to this gun is knowing when to use which option. Some would disagree, but I recommend using single-fire for far and accurate shots, and burst for close range. Some players like to alternate by pushing both left and right click while close range, but I prefer being more accurate with a nice 3-round burst to the guys head. The key to this gun, dont be too stingy. You have a big clip and you will need it to take down the opponent.

Deagle: The deagle is a fun gun, that is typically only bought if you are desperate, or doing very well during a match. Its 7 round clip .50cal bullets are deadly from any range. My advice with this gun, take your time: you only get 7 bullets, use them wisely. But don't be too picky, because even if you are aiming at their arm, it only takes a few rounds to take the guy down. I like nothing better than being in a close range battle with a deagle vs a fully-automatic rifle. He will empty his clip wildly before hitting me, and all I need to do is wait for the right moment and his hopes of killing me are gone. This gun is tricky when it comes to the right times to buy. I think, if you are a CT and have a USP, then the only time you need to buy is when you can spare the money. I do not recommend this as a first round buy, as you need the money for a kit and nades. For terrorists, it all depends. The glock is weak, so you have to use your own judgement when it comes to first round buys. Just make sure that if you are buying the deagle, someone else on your team is buying the nades.

Duelies: If you enjoy shooting at anything that moves, these are the guns for you. Although they are not my personal choice, the 30 round clip .40cal is very attractive to others. The only problem with these guns is that the recoil is very large, so make sure you only shoot in short bursts.

In my opinion, the only time you should buy the 228 and fiveseven is when your in a pub, fooling around. Although the 228 is strong, it is really a waste of money: if you can afford the 228 you should be able to afford a deagle. Same with the fiveseven, or as some like to call it the peashooter. It has little recoil but is weaker than the glock.

I would say that the best bet for anyone who enjoys scrimming would be to get used to the USP and Glock, you will be glad when you are able to take down the stronger weapons and save some cash.

Well thats all I got, if you have any other ideas or agree/disagree, let me know. Only way I will know is if you post, so thinking about posting won't do much good.

I totally disagree with you about the fiveseven. You are correct, It is weak, but it has 20 bullets. So you can do the same that you explain with the Deagle with it, but even if you miss your opponent a bit, you still have enough bullets to kill him. And after killing one opponent, if another one just shows, you still have some bulets in your clip to kill him too (or at least make him some damages), while if you had a Deagle you had to reload and the second guy can kill you. Now I mostly buy the fiveseven instead of the Deagle because of that.
I agree with you that if CT on the pistol, one should rather buy nades and defuse kit than a more powerful pistol, because let's be honest, in that round no matter the weapon you got, if you shoot in the head you kill your opponent with only one shot.
I really hate duellies. Can't get a kill with them in Gungame server, I always have to knife to level up. I can't understand how people can kill with those guns.

And I totally disagree with you about the P228 being a waste of money. Maybe that's because I just fool around in pubs.

Agreed, the 228 is amazing. Other than that I totally agree though :) Everyone says it is inaccurate but it is the TMP of pistols at close range, and as we at EC know, the TMP is sacred..
